How to Import and Export your Internet FavoritesHaving a bunch of internet favorites saved within Internet Explorer makes it a great deal easier to find the pages you are looking for, but what happens when your current PC crashes, or when you get a brand new PC. Do you have to go back and find all those pages again? The answer to that question is an emphatic “No”. Internet Explorer provides a fast and easy way for users to save their internet favorites, allowing them to quickly and easily move their favorite sites to a new PC, laptop or networked computer. This great tool is aptly called the Import/Export wizard, and it is easy to use and very intuitive. To get started just follow these simple steps.
Exporting Favorites The first step is to export your list of internet favorites to an alternate location. This location can be anywhere – a backup hard drive, a network drive, an external hard drive or anywhere else they will be safe. After those favorites have been moved they will be available whenever you need them, and importing them to a new computer is fast and easy. To get started simply follow these easy steps: ü Open Internet Explorer ü Highlight the File menu ü Choose Import and Export from the drop down list ü Click Next ü Choose Export Favorites from the list and click Next two more times ü Use the Browse button to navigate to the spot where you want to save your favorites. This site may be a shared network drive, a personal folder, an external hard drive or any other suitable location. ü You can choose to leave the filename at the default – bookmark.htm, or you can give it a more descriptive name. After you have chosen a name, click Save and then Next. ü Click Finish ü You will see a message that your Favorites have been successfully exported. You are now ready to import them to your new PC. Importing Favorites Importing your internet favorites is quite similar to the export process. Just like exporting favorites, importing your internet favorites is fast and easy. Just follow these simple steps. ü Open Internet Explorer ü Highlight the File menu ü Choose Import and Export from the drop down list
